S5 turbo ECU question

I was told that S5 tII ECU wont run just the engine that it has to see the remainder of the wiring or it goes into limp mode and that I would need to get it chiped for it to work in my 1st gen. I am planing on runing stock engine with 3" exhaust intake and an intercooler with ported wastegate and fuel cut defencer until I can swing some money for a stand alone.

Thanks for info.

do you actually have the s5 engine and ECU or are you just planning this? S5 turbo us spec ECU's are expensive and hard to find, I think you'll pay like $200 for one (maybe more? maybe less? but twice as much as an s4 T2 ecu easily)... plus the wiring and parts are hard to find.

S5 is not the way to go if you want to save money. Get an s4 motor and s4 n/a harness.

The series five ECU has to see the electric OMP feedback so it won't go into limp mode. Plus you need more than the wires that route on top of the engine, you need the wires that also go to the CAS, coils etc and they are not on the EM harness that bolts on the engine. They are a part of the Front and Engine harness on the left side of the engine.

There's not much reason you couldn't run your own wires bought at the auto store if you wanted to and read the wiring diagrams.

I already have a JDM S5 motor with engine harnest and ECU the whole shabang I am avare of the fact that I need the CAS wirins and the coil wires I have a s5 parts car I can get those from. Hte only thing that raised my question wass someone told me that suposedlly the ECU has to see the remainder of the wiring harnest for it to be able to operate I have never heard of that but I figured it would hurt to ask someone that knows.
