s5 turbo

does the s5 turbo have some kind of internal wastegate? im trying to put one on a 12a but there is a vacume thing that links to the turbo on the T2 and it seems like it would be a wastegate, if i have an external wastegate already can i remove this from the turbo? or is it something else.

yes is has an internal wastegate.

if you are planing to use an external one. I would take off the turbo back plate and weld the stock one shut. as well as leaving the vacum line off.

Pratically all factory turbos have internal wastegates. Factory external wastegates are very rare.

It'll work on any wastegate.

Just welding the flap closed would be easier.

It's easy... you just run the manifold signal line to the solenoid and the new signal line to the wastegate. It tricks the wastegate into thinking it's running stock boost when it's running whatever you've set into the controller.
