s5 tranny better than s4 ?? your opinion

i notice that s5 tranny shift very well!!

and s4 seem to be a little more hard

it's just because s5 tranny are in better shape?

or there is a real difference between s4 and s5 tranny (like the syncro) ??

If NA try the Miata. It has shorter gears. Claire did it, and she's loving it.

There is no difference between s4 and s5 trannies, only na and t2 trannies. The t2 trannies usually are gonna be way better because they can handle shitty shifting better.

Actually there are some differences. There's different 5th gears depending on the year, and IIRC the S5's (the NA's anyway) have a stronger, ribbed transmission case.

the s-5 and s-4 turbo trannys are different as well. To my opinion the s-5 has a little bit cleaner shift, also the ribs on the tranny are nearly double that of the s-4.

There Are Only 2 Things That The S4 Has That Is Better Than The S5.

#1. Strong & Lower Compression Rotors

#2. The Fuel Rail Has A Removable Pressure Regulator

Besides That, From The Wheels To The Sun Roof The S5 Is Always Better

^lol yeah.

I guess those Cool autoseat belts are a plus or the electric omp and limp mode when it's not there :P

Anyway.
So anybody know the physical traits to a S5 TII tranny? I got a TII tranny in my car but never found out if it was S4/S5.

Someone said fin placement but anything easy like fin spacing(2 inches opposed to 4,etc) or a marking?

the only rough comparison for this topic that I have personal experience with is an S4 USDM TII tranny vs. S5 JDM TII tranny.

IMHO - JDM one had less miles and had much cleaner shifts FOR THAT REASON ONLY......and Jspec had a shorter 5th gear.

But really I believe driving wise I could switch S4 and S5 (with equal miles) back and forth and no one could actually tell what they were shifting. The performance is seriously that close...in my experience at least
