S5 T2 Boost Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok guys I have a question....w/ my mods 3 1/8in Turbo Back Exhaust, all emissions removed, removed OMP, MBC, FCD, S-AFC, Cosmo 20B Fuel Pump, and K&N filter what boost will I be running. I mean when I race I will set the boost with the controller to about 10-12psi, but for daily driving I would not mind having it around 6-8psi...but here is the problem just w/ my high flowing exhaust and Intake Filter my boost psi will be raised right? Is there a way w/ my mods I cn keep the boost down till i want it turned up? With my mods could I at least run 9psi daily? Any help would be greatly appreciated PLEASE! Thanks
Mike

It's wherever you want it. No lower than 6psi since that's the default spring in the wastegate, but you can set it however you want it as long as your wastegate can flow enough. Please search, this is basic info.

Port your wastegate. Thats the most important thing to do with your mods. Porting your wastegate will allow your turbo to get rid of the excess gasses more efficiently. That way, you can control your boost better, basically running anywhere in the range of 5 psi to 12 psi depending on your setting, with little or no boost creep.

Sorry forgot to mention that i do have a fully ported wastegate as well....SO with the wastegate sufficiently ported I cn control my boost settings....that really really makes me happy b/c I want to drive around all the time at 6psi only until I want to race or just mess around a little then I will turn it up to about 11-12 psi. So being able to have such control over the boost I am running and running at such low psi I should not be puttin much strain on anything at 6psi right?

Well, 6 lbs is stock...so yes youll be ok. You may be a bit on the rich side....the thing is, if you are gonna richen your maps up for 12 lbs with the safc....in order to properly control boost and get decent mileage, find out if you can turn the safc off when you are running stock boost. Thats about the only idea i have, as ive never played with an safc.

Getting 720's like you said....would however be a good idea. Rather than getting safc...ive heard the realtek 1.7 is really good. That way, you can enrich your fuel depending on how much boost the computer knows youre getting, rather than tricking it.

thats my .02

the SAFC should have a few different maps so you can set it for whether you want to commute or race. and stock is 4.5lbs not 6, though not much difference but it is enough if you have mods and higher boost that it can cause a lean condition which can lead to detonation and apex seal failure. it's just good to know what you are getting into when doing mods on a force injected engine.

but i wouldn't worry much about 6psi over running 8psi+ without much care given to tuning or watching fuel curves.

Stock is higher than 4.5, the wastegate spring is 5.5lbs.

maybe i'm wrong but i don't think it was that high, not that much in difference anyhow so if it isn't the risk is minimal anyhways but running higher than 8psi with intake/exhaust mods could cause trouble, without tuning that is.

Ok I see well I will have to get my S-AFC running on two different maps....one around 6psi and the other for racing around 11-12psi. I just didnt want to be riding around at high boost all the time, when there was no need for it. Someone mail me a RealTek 1.7 please.....j/k
