S5 rebuild question

Hey, one quick question.
The metal piece in the 13B exhaust ports nicknamed the "airplane." I was wondering if you can remove it, because i know its only there to quiet the exhaust and i also know its fairly restrictive.
If it can be removed, how would i go about doing such a feat?

Try searching after accessing the CP - control panel & changing the posts shown to all instead of the last few months... you then have access to ALL of the posts instead of just the last few months. & use the advanced search functions to narrow the search to 2nd generation instead of all of the available forums. the search function can be your friend if used correctly.

It's called a diffuser. It can be cut out (most of it) with a torch, or the entire port sleeve can be removed (more difficult) and replaced with a sleeve from a Turbo engine, which doesn't use the diffuser.

It's not restrictive.

It can be ground out with a die grinder and stone, or cut out with a torch/plasma cutter. Or you can replace the sleeves with TII exhaust sleeves.

This will increase sound volume significantly.
