Pops after you let off, or while you are actually revving?

my vert did this near redline when I first bought it. After a full tuneup including fuel filter, it runs like a champ.

Don't forget to replace the OEM exhaust if it's still on there. That includes minimum partial headers/downpipe to replace the pre-cat and new performance catalytic converter.

You'll thank yourself for doing this.

@ What RPM are you revving it to?

On N/A with no cats you should be getting small pops and poots under 5k and you should be getting loud shotgun bangs/back fires when you rev it up to redline and let off.

The un-burnt gas is pushed out and hit the hot exhaust and "pop" explodes. The N/A's especially the S5's run rich from the factory. I doubt it's detonation.

Other than the pops does it run strong or have any other problems?

Humm well that is different then what I thought (I though it was popping after you revved it and let off).

When you are pressing on the gas pedal will it just stop at a certain RPM and not go any further? Is it shaking or having any other problems? These are the symptoms I had when my ECU was fried (not saying that this is the case here).

Can you tell us more about what the motor is doing so we might make a better assessment? Have you done any mods lately? Pulled anything apart? Just doing some good-ol-fashioned brainstorming.

well its not the fuel filter since it still does it.

Whats weird is that it only does it sometimes. It didnt do it this morning but it was popping when I was driving home.

It starts to pop at like 2k and up. My A/F gauge is also at the stioch part, around the middle.
maybe the timing is set wrong?
right now its almost all the way to the top (retarded I think?)

well what other things could make it do that? thanks a lot I really appreciate it!
