ok i got all the vac problems taken care of. the egr was not allowing the uim to seat corrctly so i did some trimming. so that's all well. but i got it started and it was running decent so i decided to take it down the road real quik. it ran alright but it ran really hot. i could literally watch the temp gauge rise so i immideatly shut her down for like 5 minutes and drove her back home. what could be the cause of this? i'm using the s4 bac... could that be the culprit? is the bac a oneway valve of somesort. cause i think i have the coolent lines going in at the opposite end as it was on my s4. would that cause my car to run hot though? any ideas would be great. also how can i bypass the bac until i get an s5 one? just run the coolent line that comes off the water pump to the one that goes in to the block? a diagram would be great if anyone has one. thanks

nah, the S4 bac should not have anything to do with it. It is not a one way valve. I'd be looking at something simple like a pinched line or bad thermostat or bad fan.

i have no thermostat, is the line that is on the back side of the throttle body a return line or a feed line? the fan works fine. it never got this warm before i tried this swap. it would have over heated pretty soon. any suggestions. if i don't firgure this out my s4 stuff is going back on
thanks

ah no thermostat... that there could be part of it... you need at least the restriction of cut thermostat for proper cooling.

I am assuming that you common things like the engine undercover and rad fan covers are in place as well???

wow this thread got jacked while i was gone lol, some good info though. i had a huge gas leak so i tore it back apart and replaced the o rings on my primaries and fixed that and it ran a little better. It still wont run below 2000 rpm and i am thinking it is either my tps or a vac problem. the problem with the tps is that when i put the one from the s4 tb on the s5 tb, its not a perfect fit and when at 0 throttle the tps is still sticking out almost and 1/8 inch from being completely pushed in. i am going to try puting a zip tie around the arm that pushes on it and see if that helps but i still think it is a vac leak. Dom do you understand that pic of icemarks colored diagram? i tried to follow it but i wish i could get some pictures of what lines go to what because im still confused.

yea the vac diagram is a little tricky. i had all that taken car of i thought but then my car was running so hott. i do understand that i need a thermostat. but without the thermostat the car should run cold. not hott. as it did for the month that i have not had a thermostat. it just took a long time to warm up. today i was at a lose so i decided to put the s4 stuff back on. but i mis placed the banjo fitting for the secondary injectorsso i had an old banjo fitting laying around that i drilled but that on seems to leaks wicked bad. like it sprays gas everywhere and i used to new crush washers too. . hmm i dunno. it would be nic eif i could figure out the cooling problem. i've asked a fwew times where i would route the line that comes out of the water pump to but no body ahs addressed taht issue. any help would be great. thanks

ok old thread but didnt want to start another. I figured out what my problem is, i tried and tried to get the idle right asking questions here with no responses so i had an idea. i put my girlfreinds throttle body on to see if it was something like the tps or cold start crap and it idled perfect, then it started to bog and died so i started it again, looked under the hood and saw smoke and smelled oil so i was like "crap, mop is leaking" then this morning i started it again and saw gas spraying then remembered im premixing and thats why it smelled like oil lol. my question is, can i use my s4 injectors with the s5 intake? i just used them because it ran fine with them. they dont move up and down but the do turn back and forth fairly easy so i dont know if they fit right. and the other question is does anyone have an s4 tb because my friend ported a hole in the side of mine.

No, that is not correct. The impedence change ocurred on the 87.5 models, not the 89 models.

Please do not post if you don't know... (of course it is even worse reviving a old thread with wrong info).

Is your car running right yet? The injector issue is not one at all...you can run them no problem. Fuel rails, is another issue...you should run the s5 rails, at least the lower rail, because of fitment issues with the middle intake.

I'm assuming you know that the s5 intake sits lower to the block, and in fact in my experience some metal must be ground off the rear iron on the s4 block, otherwise the middle intake will not seal to the lower intake, resulting in a large vacuum leak and a pisspoorly running car...right?

well i just put some new orings on the injectors so they arent leaking anymore. it still wont idle with my s5 tb on there so i have been experimenting with umplugging different things like the bac/bac silenoid and the acv to see if it affected the idle and it didnt do much. i think im going put the stock tb from my 88 on there again and see how it runs with the new orings, if it idles then its probly the tps or sumthin. any ideas?

well just to update for anyone that wants to try the manifold swap and fails. I took my car to banzai racing to let chris fix it and it ended up being a lot of different things. the vac line on the fuel rail was not connected to anything so it was running insanely rich all the time, my tps was way off, there were a couple vac lines running to the wrong location and i had an exhaust leak making it run even richer. if anyone tries this and has problems pm me and i will try my best to describe how to make it work. my car runs great now and idles solid at 750
