s4 trim ?'s
Alright so the trim came off of my passenger side door(held on by double sided tape when I got it... ) I was wondering if there is a somewhat simple way to 1) get all of the tape off, it's the kind that's kind of like a thin layer of foam with stickiness on either side, without eating the paint. 2) A way to reliably keep the trim on once I get another piece(mine warped and I had to rip it off) any insight would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Huh, trim adhesive, didn't know. I used hot glue b/c I know it's easy to pry off, leaves no residue, yet stays on strong when applied over a large area. You gotta be quick to apply it and press on the trim before it dries, but you get unlimited retries.
WD-40 will remove tape, if you let it soak. I really don't think it harms paint, but I'm not 100% sure. Didn't do anything to my bumper paint when I soaked a sticker for a long while. Car soap will get the WD-40 off.

I'm not real worried about the quality of the paint finish I just didn't want it to be stripped(the paint as a whole is in pretty rough shape as is so as long as it's still there I'm happy) I'm thinking I might try and primer it black sometime soon after I get a new fender and possibly door just so it's all the same color but that could be awhile. Because the way the paint faded it looks almost silver on one side and goldish on the other and oxidized on the roof. Thanks for the suggestions though. I'll be scrubbing tomorrow

Agreed that your best bet is the 3M molding adhesive tape. It holds very well if you apply it to a clean surface.
For getting off the old glue, Goo Gone probably works fine, but I always use mineral spirits. It won't harm your paint. Don't confuse it with other kinds of paint strippers though which will harm your paint. Make sure you also remove all traces of old gunk from the back of the molding as well.

it might be, but I don't think this was the stock it looked exactly like some of the double sided tape I keep around the house which isn't really suited to the conditions faced by a car i.e rain, excessive heat stuff like that but I can't really know for sure but all my other trim is perfect
