s4 Tii severe missing problem

Two Problems:

1.

High test fuel in tank at all times

Compresion is fine

Spark plugs are new

Plug wires are new

and the coils are seemingly in good operating order as well

However, my car miss fires quite frequently.

The car stopped missing the day I put the new plugs and wires on, but no less than two days later it started acting up again.

Any Ideas?

2.

Meter Fuse blew, replace blew again, when the meter fuse blows the blower for the ac/heat stops working as well. I hate electrical problems... with a passion, any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this problem efficiently?

Thank,
Ryan

Missing at idle? Is that what you mean? And does this car still have the airpump and ACV on it?

sounds like your running rich. have you replaced your o2 sensor? check your water temp sensor and make sure its plugged in.

You wouldn't know how to test the water temp sensor by any chance?

Oh an it misses at idle, at speed at any time lol also I have this problem where at full spool my car just kinda falls on its face. Aside from the miss fire problem it runs great up untill that full spool point.

So if you have any suggestions about that it would be greatly appreciated as well.

I love 80's sports cars, just hate the problems that come with 'em lol.

The water temp sensor can be checked per the FSM in the FUEL AND EMISSIONS section. Or you can simply monitor the sensors voltge at pin 2I on the middle plug on the ECU. You leave the plug on the ECU and backprobe the 2I location.

Its a green/white wire. Should read approx a half volt dc at full engine temp. If it does, the the sensor is good. Also take note that if the wiring from the sensor to the ECU is open. as in a wire being off it, then the ECU defaults to a temp of 180* F which is operating temp and therefore cannot cause a problem once the engine is fully warm.

Also note that if the water thermo sensor is bad/wire off, then the engine will be more difficult to start when it's stone cold. Will not be difficult to start once the engine warms up, though.

Falling on its face at full spool could be Fuel Cut by the ECU seeing too high a boost pressure. You MIGHT need a fuel cut defender to over ride that problem (FCD). Could be another thing all together though.

If the *missing* had only been at idle, as in an occasional poof, poof from the exhaust, then I was going to suggest you try something. Going to the Variable Resistor and noting where the screw is at that time and making a note of it. Then with the engine at full temp and idling, turn that screw towards clockwise direction to make the IDLE mixture RICHER. The occasional poof, poof should decline in number and the engine idle smoother.

If the airpump is still on the engine, then I had another idea on the idle miss, but you didn't reply as to whether you did/did not have the airpump/ACV on the engine.

Sorry bout that I get on here with very little time to spare.

I have a FCD (via Rtek 1.7)(perhaps the Rtek chip is screwing up however, I have a walbro 255 fuel pump as well, could it possibly be that my fuel pump is simply lagging and not pushing enough fuel through at full boost?)

No air pumpNot quite sure about the ACV however I'll bust out the factor service manual and check though(unless you can easily describe where to find it)

I will test the the water temp sensor this weekend when I have some free time thanks for that!
