s4 tailights - did a search : (
Hey all, did a search, but cld not find
just wanting too see if i can touch up my taillights (heaps of scratches) cuz they are lookin abit ruggard, and @ tha mo, im a tight *** to pay for a new set.
So i taped the lenses up, so not to paint them, put a coat of paint on, and magically wondered if i can actually pull aprt the lenses from the actual surrounds (part im painting)? so i had a go, took sum screws out that are doing god knows what? but didnt come apart, so im thinking maybe they're glued togeather? or maybe they just a one piece unit? or? maybe i need to go but a new set?,
any help would be fantastic, and appreciated
cheers all.

Well i have a bad scratch on one of my s5 tails and I was thinking of using some of that stuff u use to buff scratches out of cd's. I am unsure if it will add smaller scratches but im willing to try.

theyre going to be sealed.. id just tape them off.. its pretty easy.then sand down all the cracks, primer and spray whatever color. i reccomend primer only because, if you dont the paint wont adhere to that old plastic.

I tried gettin the colored lense off the black housing... its wont come off with a hair dryer or heat gun. You pretty much gotta break it off. Not worth the trouble if you ask me.

i've seen ONE person who actualy did some modding to the S4 tails. Dunno who it was but he had half red (brakes) and half clear (reverse and turn signal) and he had a clear third brake light. I'll try and find a pic

oh i wouldn't even bothe with that, i'd make the turn signal red instead of making it clear, i dont like clear tillight turnsignals look gay to me but i'll try to sketch of photoshop up a pic on the mod i was going to do, and might still do if i can find a way to get these tails apart

I like the clear strip on the bottom. it gives it a mor unified look. You just have to remember to put an amber bulb in it. I just know some ricer will tell you to put a white or green bulb in it or something.

white turn signals don't bother me that much as long as they aren'ty blinding, and it pisses me off that you get pulled over for them being white some cars look white stock (volvo wagon and ford aspire come to mind) Anyway i think those S4 ones are alright but i might like em better without such a crystal clear type lense something a little less shiny.

well i did a lil mod to my tall lights not to long ago .i really dont like the amber lenses on the talls a whole lot so i sand them down and took transparent red model paint (hobby lobby, michaels, etc.)and put like 7 coats on the ambers and one over the the reds just to get them to look shiny. then i went to auto zone and got those lil red gel light caps just to make sure the looked red and they came out greet . i'll take picks of them when i get back from Cali. next week....
