s4 - s5 trans differences

Ok, I am doing a manual swap on my 929.. It suggests to use a s5 box, but I have a s4 Tii box from my last project.

I searched and found a few threads, but nothing conclusive. So I figured I would post to find out.

Basically what I want to know if there are any mounting differences or outter deminsion differences, that way I will not run into any issues while doing my trans swap.

Thanks in advance,
-Mike

Well, a TII and an N/a trans have big differences, but between the series I don't think there are many differences.

for a 929 I assume it would probably be a TII trans (they're beefier), so there aren't any differences that I know of. there might be some small gearing changes.

How the trans crossmember mounts to the trans is different between series.

^ ok so I for sure need a s5 trans? Or is there a way to run s4 mount an a s5 crossmember, or vica versa?

Nope, crossmember has to match the trans but the trans doesn't have to match the car in FC's.

Im not exactly sure if we have the crossmember in common, I will take a look when I get my 929 one. And compare it to that of a s5 fc, if they are the same mounting points I guess I could use a s4 crossmember and s4 trans correct?

All of the crossmembers for manual transmissions mount in the same place on the FC chassis. They're just specific to the transmission itself.
