S4 to S5 Swap questions

Quick questions about the S4 to S5 swap....

As far as the OMP is concerned, does the WHOLE front cover have to be swapped? Or can I just swap the OMP to the mechanical one?

IF the front cover has to come off, does that mean I have to pull the main pulley? If so, what should I look out for...I have read things about being careful about a trust needle or something.

thanks in advance!

Yes and yes.

Just get a hunk of 2x4 to wedge the clutch all the way down while the pully/Eshaft bolt is loose and that will prevent the needle bearing from falling.

A little voice in the back of my head keeps saying I would think you would also need to swap the water pump, when swaping the cover, but its been so long since I did a cover swap, I don't remember for sure.

the motor is out, so I just need to stand the motor on the flywheel. So the front cover has to be swapped...Bummer. Thats work...

Will just a front cover gasket be sufficient?

Read the mazdatrix FAQ on the thrust bearing positioning AND the front cover oil bypass o-ring.

Read that...Basically it states that if the motor is out, it can be stood on the flywheel. The thrust bearing wont budge. Far as the o-ring, it stated that you can use either a gasket and sealer, or a sealer, depending on the cast of the front housing.

But I was just looking for some personal experiences. Maybe some pitfalls to avoid.
