s4 problem...

i have a 87 automatic rx7. it was running good one day and now it is just not starting up. it will crank but wont start. i just put new spark plugs in the car and checked for spark and fuel. i get fuel from the primary and also getting spark from all four spark plugs.. i dont know where else to start looking from. i just put my other alternator from my other rx7 in just to make sure it is holding charge and it is still working. i have not yet checked the starter but i dont know if that is the problem. can anyone tell me what could be wrong here.. need help a.s.a.p. thanks.

starter isn't your problem, i would be pulling your plugs out and de-flood the motor.

Per FSM, hold down throttle all the way and crank your car until it starts. If it's flooded, this will fix it. Per FSM and Aaron and Hailers.

That works on a series FIVE but not series four, which he has. Holding the pedal to the metal on a series four will HELP, but does not do the same thing as on a series FIVE.

ON a series FIVE, holding the pedal to the floor AND the ECU seeing the START signal plus rpm lower than 500rpm, will turn off the fuel injectors but allow you to keep cranking the engine over WITH spark (a definite plus).

Not being critical, just enhancing your post. humor Gee, my fifth post.

...That cant be true. On my series 4 thats all I have to do to get it unflooded. Are you sure you dont have it backwards? And is this really Hailers? Why the 2?

S5 ECU will cut fuel at WOT throttle on Start up.,your car is Flooded..take the plugs out,Take the EGI FUSE out(engine bay Fuse block),roll the engine over 10 seconds or so to get the fuel out of the Housings,Clean the plugs..Throw a Squirt of OIL into the Plug holes..just roll it over Without the plugs for a sec or Two.then Clean the spark plug holes off, install the Plugs and Connect the Wires back up.,Put the EGI back in and start it Without giving it gas..It should Start but it will smoke..the smoke will Subside..Good luck......automatic!..heh..you kill me!...
