S4 N/A - UIM Vacuum question
On the firewall side of the UIM, there are 3 nipples. On mine, i have one going to thermowax on the throttle, one is capped off, and then there is one that I don't know where it goes.
Does anyone know?

Yea, it doesn't seem to show it in the FSM. I haven't read every diagnostic step, it may be revealed there. I don't have my UIM with me right now, but I think that the one nipple that has a 90 degree bend, straight up, is going to the thermowax.

It may be that the nipple that goes straight out goes to the thermowax, and the other nipple that goes straight up goes to the cruise control. At least I think it is the cruise control-- the vaccume line that is attached to the throttle cable which goes to the passenger side of the car.

That makes alot of sense, since I am using a UIM from a different vehicle, I don't know if it had cruise or not. I'll have to check my old UIM and see if there are 2 caps on that one, since I know it did not have cruise.
I'll have to check the FSM too under cruise control, and see if there is any info there.

On my UIM from the 7 with no cruise and manual tranny, the big one is capped, and the 90 degree nipple is capped. I'm not sure which one is which, but the FSM suggests that one of them is for Automatic transmissions. There is a Check valve line running up to the thermowax, and also is "T"ed with the diaphram on the front of the throttle, (in auto's).
For manuals, some of the drawings look like that diaphram on the front has a check valve running to the thermowax nipple closest to the firewall, and some look like the nipple closest the the throttle body.
Can anyone confirm one of these positions?
