replacing driverside front fender: how is it done

the title is pretty much self explanatory, just need some advice as to how i go about doing this. If anyone has step by step procedures i would be happy to take any input. The car is an 87 TII with a horribly dented front fender. I've heard people say many things that make it sound like you have to dismantle the whole front end just to take off the fender...

please give me any advice

its not too bad. its easiest to take off the wheel and then the inner wheel well. there are a couple of hard to reach nuts. there are 3 or 4 that go through the front bumper but can be reached from inside the fender with the wheel removed. just start taking things apart.

1)jack up the car and pull the wheel off
2)pull the inner fender - approx. 10 bolts, one screw on clip
3)un bolt fender from bumper - 4 bolts
4)unbolt fender at rear, 2 underneath, one reached through the inside of the fender by door hinges
5) unbolt the easy to reach ones along the inside of the hood seam
6) remove and reverse steps

just remember to look at the other side of the car to get your space and gapping right or your door will give a popping sound when opening because its rubbing against the fender.

You'll want a deep well 10mm socket with a few various length extensions to get the nuts attaching the fender to the front nose cone. You can do it with wrenches, but... trust me, you don't want to.
