S4 keyless entry

i have a base model S4 w/ no power options. But i want to have keyless entry, which aftermarket actuators work best with this? Also i want a remote trunk and gas door opener. I was planning on using two trunk actuators for the rear hatch and the gas door, will this work? Also, what alarm system would be easiest to configure this with. Something under $300. please. Has anyone done this? Thanks -TK

I've done the keyless, any ebay kit will work, make sure it comes with the actuators and the remote unit. wiring them up is pretty straight forward. getting them to work together is another story. both actuators have to be set just right so that when you hit unlock they both see that the door is locked and pop open. another issue was the hole in the door to mount them is too big for the bar that comes with the kit. you'll have to make a bar and drill the holes for the actuator and to mount it to the door (some bending and drilling will be required). other than that it was pretty straight forward.

as far as the hatch poping get a kit off ebay and hook it to the release cable that single silinoid (sp) should be enough to pop it.

gas door, same story as the hatch

the whole setup should cost around 100 bucks

yes, my remote unit has an output for the hatch, i just haven't wired it in yet, it also has 2 other output that could be used for anything i guess, but i haven't figured out how to use them since i don't have anything else on there

i was planning on getting two universal door actuators, and two trunk kits and hook it up to a alarm system. Get it all from www.sonicselectronix.com

You don't need truck actuator kits. A simple single door lock actuator is more than enough to unlock the truck.

yeah Trunk, not truck...

If you can move it with a key, you can move it with a door lock actuator

I have never tried to do the gas door (never saw the point), but since it is pretty easy to pull with the cable, I would think it would pretty easy to just hook up a door lock actuator to the emergency release.

yeah, whenever i pull my gas door release it hits the seat and i never know if it popped open or not. So i gotta get out and go look to see if it opened and if it didnt i gotta go do it again, it just bugs me. Thats why id like it on a remote so i can just push a button.

Man, just stay with the standard options. You're not going to die w/o them.

yea but it doesnt hurt to have an upgrade. Plus its kinda hard to unlock the door with the key, and i hate holding the handle to close and lock the door...seems ghetto

sounds like you're missing the plastic piece that holds the levers down (or broken). mines like that too because when i changed the carpet, i forgot (and lost) the piece. so now it hits the seat like yours.

all the coupes have an emergency release on the inside of the trunk... no need to mess it up with a key

No, I think he's referring to the fuel filler door. Not the hatch.
