S4 Can't Pull Codes

I put my test lights on the driverside check plug. grounds DCC1/2 pos ABR turn the key to on and nothing. they work, because I put them on the TPS and got em lighting up. so then I put a analog tester on DCC1. key to on and it sweeps over for a few seconds and then nothing. after than I turn the key to off and on and no movement on the tester.

I know something has to be wrong. I have a full stock FC that drives awesome, but gets 14MPG mixed driving. most of that is freeway.

143K no vacuum leaks, full tune up, cleaned and tested injectors. TPS and timing adjusted to the best I could.

I do have a http://mazdatrix.com/c-bleed.htm kit, because it has a lot of miles and I don't want to deal with flooding. could this affect mileage?

When the tester is installed and you then turn the key ON..............do they light up for a moment or two and then go out? Should.

Remove the tps plug and check for codes. You should get the code for the TPS at least this way.

Gas milage and a RX are just about what your getting with mixed driving. Don't expect much if any more than that. Soccer mom vans get better milage.

So DCC1 goes to Y/B and DCC2 to Y/R and the two spliced wires to B/W and w/key to on the lights don't light up briefly?

All three of these wires should each have less than 5 volts for 3 seconds w/key to on followed by battery voltage afterwards.

hailers is right, disconnect the TPS and see if you get a code for that.

IMO low mileage might mean your o2 sensor is bad/slow. hailers did have a little writeup to use the 2 lights so you can watch the o2 sensor cycling.

they don't light up at all when I turn the key to on. I'm using brake lights. do they need to be 5v LEDS?

They NEED to be LED'S. Using common light bulbs can possibly draw too much current and ruin the circuitry inside the ECU.

I took it in for inspection and it passed everything but the idle. 200 max / 2100 mine hydrocarbons.

said I need a tune up. I just changed the oil, plugs, air filter, checked for vacuum leaks, did timing, and TPS a week ago.
