Question s4 Aspec for s5 Jspec?

just a quick question that I couldn't find by searching. I have an 86 GX(luxury) and the engine is blown and was wondering can you simply swap in an 89 Jspec motor? I have one lined up, but would I need the ECU and a bunch of sensors and stuff?

Ok a J-spec is a TII engine not an N/a engine. You need to have the TII Drive train and an S5 Harness and ECU.

Its not a bolt in.

It is recommended to stay within the same series to save problems unless you like problems and are good at solving them. All jspec engines were turbo.

I know you can run the N/a tranny and rear but why waist money burning clutches?

I think it comes down to how you drive. Id say im a fairly aggressive driver but I dont ream my driveline and mines holding up perfectly with all new seals, bearings, clutch, pp etc.

I've heard that J-spec are n/a too, but no matter, so you would figure that the right hand drive wouldn't mean anything and the fact that the engine is from Japan? and does an 89 na engine fit in an 86 na without swapping stuff.

Who ever told you they are also N/a doesn't know much. N/a's were ONLY made in the US. Japan and everwhere else all FC's were turbos even the verts.

89-86 is a different series motor so There will probably have to be some changes made.
