MO RX7 Turbo II S4 ground and slave cylinder wire FIRE???

Just put in rebuilt injectors got in to car. start it and the ground from the transmission to firewall and the slave cylinder line caught on fire? I have no idea how this could happen? Anybody have any info on this please help. The only thing i could think of would be the battery is in one of the back cubbyholes behind the passenger. that it could ground out?

The wire attached to the slave cylinder is a resistor and not a ground. Did you have this wire grounded or did this wire still have the resistor at the end of it.

the resistor did not burn the slave cylinder line and the ground wire on the other side of the slave cylinder is what burned.

the resistor is bolted to the slave cylinder. it didn't burn.

I meant to say "condensor" rather than resistor. You mentioned there is another wire connected to the slave cylinder. Where does the other end connect to?

there is no other wires on the slave cylinder. there is a ground wire a foot away from the slave cylinder that caught fire to.

So the condensor did not burn but the wire at the other side of the condensor did burn. Is this correct.

The protective layer around the line the go to slave cylinder for the clutch fluid. and a foot away there is a ground for the transmission that go's to the firewall that caught fire at same time.

the negative battery cable goes from the battery to the body, to the engine, and this supplies most of the ground. if the other little ground cable caught on fair this is a sign that it was used as the ENTIRE grounding system, and its not meant for that.

so the first thing to look at is the negative battery cable.

The battery has been relocated to storage box behind the passenger side. I have never had a problem with this car before.

its pretty clear that you no longer have a decent earth path from the engine to the body ( and not from the body to the battery )
and thus it has grounded via the tiny cables and set fire to them

,, reconnect the earth strap from gearbox/engine to body

There should have been a braided steel(?) wire going to the body and intake manifold, if I recall. My car's been through so many phases of completely torn apart that I forgot where it's really supposed to go. Really, so long as it's attached between the body and engine/trans, it should do its job.

Look behind the intake manifold on the passenger's side for this braided cable. I'll bet it's no longer hooked up.
