Don't run a spool if you plan on being able to turn the car. Spools cause a great deal of stress on the driveline, and from what I have experienced, the driveline of the rx-7 isnt all that strong.

Theirs a couple different options, but I agree, don't go with a spool. Your transmission will thank you for it later.

Since you have a 87, yours is the clutch type. You can either get one from a 89-91 T2 (vicious type), or one from a 3rd gen (torsen). Most people just prefer using the clutch type.

Chances are the clutches are just worn out on yours. It IS over 20 years old you know. Rebuild it and shim it, it'll definitely lock better.

There's an archived thread about using miata lsd's. The gears don't fit, but the lsd unit does, and it's a torsen as well, probably cheaper/easier to find.

I could be wrong, but I think the miata gears are a direct drop in to a N/A diff. The 3rd gen gears are a direct drop in to a T2 diff.

the 1.8l first generation miata differentials are completely interchangable with the fc na diffs. not the pumpkins. rebuild your current clutch type, parts can be found at mazdatrix. theres a how-to if you google it.

the all sound like good options but i really don't want to have an lsd, anymore, bash if you must but i prefer have a constant locked rear end, since its my track car im not really worried about trans, and driveline, since i have 3 spares for each
