TII underdrive pulleys

I have an 89 TII
Mods are: Open element air filter, 3 inch downpipe and full exhaust w/ cat, No EGR or Air Pump.

My question is what would be the advantages/disadvantages of putting on Alternator and Main dual sheave underdrive pulleys on my TII?
I already have the pulleys sitting on my 88 NA that I snagged from an 86 NA car I bought to fix up and sell.

Thanks for any help.

unless you track or drag race more often than not i really have no ******* clue why people put underdrive pulleys on their cars.

if that answers your question.

the real answer is it put less load on the engine at high RPMs, at low RPMs your accessory speed suffers so sitting in traffic for extended periods of time, i hope you have a good strong battery...

Well currently the car is my DD and touge racer. Eventually it will be only my touge car once I get another DD with better gas mileage. I do touge quite often though and sometimes until the sun comes up in the morning.

then an underdrive pulley should be fine.

and i don't want to hear about some wannabe killing an innocent driver on the backroads of the SC mountains.. so i hope you are at least doing it on corners where you can see oncoming traffic.
