Cut out the rust, weld in a new panel. Then rustproof and paint...Not much more to it really. The issue is having the skills to fabricate your replacement metal and being able to weld the thin sheetmetal of the body without warping it.

on my old 86 i sanded the rust off, bondo, primer paint. Then in about a year...it came back. needless to say, I suck at bodywork, even though it was my first and only time...i still suck.
