Rusted Muffler

Couple days ago my rusted left muffler fell off and got disconnected from my Y pipe. I know the right one will fall off to in just a matter of time. I can't afford to replace it with performance mufflers until next spring. Can I still drive around with only the right muffler?

Sure. Just make sure you're not breaking any noise laws.

When is your next emmission inspection due?

Thanks, I noticed that the Y pipe is pointing towards the fuel tank, that won't be a hazzard will it?

It's not loud at all, not as loud as alot of exhaust systems around here.

We don't have emissions tests here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. That's why I'll be getting a true dual exhaust system in the spring.

I had the same problem - with a bit of luck the y pipe is ok - I went to the local wrecker and found a pair of stainless mufflers in great shape for $75C and got them fitted for $40 - plus a couple of gaskets for the y pipe joints.

The same thing happened to me. My car is way too loud right now cause i got no cats and open pipe on one side, muffler on the other. I think im gonna go with a 14" magnaflow aluminized 2.5" muffler on the drivers side and thats it. It'll cost around 250 - 300 for the catback but might be loud. I'll have more info tomorrow or sat when it gets installed. BTW the car STINKS inside with no muffler. It might be dangerous if gasses get inside.

I think the spark arrestor is in the cats; so you shouldn't have to worry about blowing up. I'm not an expert though.

Ok, i got a 14" magnaflow put on today. Im running the reactor, straight pipe, and magnaflow. its not too loud at all, but i havent been out on the highway with it yet so it might drone a bit. It sounds fairly smooth and civilized, not raspy like open exhaust.
