Running wires from cabin to engine....

Where is the best spot to run wires through the firewall? I'm running a switch for my washer nozzles to turn the lights on and off... should I drill through the firewall? Any advice would be great.

Uhh......washer nozzle lights........as in the neon washer lights. There should be a hole already there on the driver's side, it will have some wires already going through it. It should have a rubber boot around the hole to keep moisture out.

*sigh*

Ok, the lights match my paint. It actually looks really good. Their not obnoxious or ugly. And honestly no one else has ever called it rice or anything else. It's the only "body mod" on my car. If I had a camera that could take a decent pic in the dark, I'd show you. You're more then welcome to drive over here and take a look.

The lights are wired into the front running lights, they were run like that when I bought it. That's about to change. Just gotta find a spot to run them through.

Run them through either the main harness grommet (lot of existing wres, on driver's side of engine bay), or the ECU harness grommet (on passenger side of engine bay, lots of existing wires). You could also go throguh the speedo cable gommets, or drill your own, and add you own grommet from an auto parts store.

Okay, I'll be the first...IT'S RICEY, RICE, RICE!! Take that crap off there and put the right jets back on. Why have those at all? What function do they serve? To look "cool"? If that's the case, you have a failing gimmick on your car and it's insulting to the rest of us.

Just my .02.

Wiper nozzle lights are not nearly as bad as lighted muffler tips OR LED valve-stem caps.

There's this thing called oxidation (also known as rust) and the paint is necessary to preventing it from degenerating the steel body panels. The bonus is that it looks good with paint. So, Ricer Boy, you can see there is a genuine reason for the presence of paint which is something absent from those god damn washer nozzle lights. Unless, of course, if you need to be able to see your washer nozzles for some reason.

man f1blue you suck!
i hate to be harsh but i feel as though it is due....consider this the 3 or 4th burn out of many that you will recieve.....lighted exhaust tips....lighted tire stems....and washer nozzles are just one more way to make you car a rice mobile....which is lame cause its a rex.....my car is completely stock and im sure it looks better than yours cause i actually care about the look of my car...you obviusly have alot of friends with riced out hondas....do you meet in parking lots and hang out till dawn as well....man you should be drug out in the street and run over with your own car.......and then be forced to sign the title over to a person who will show the car the respect and care that it needs/craves.....
again.....sorry to be mean or blunt or whatever....but please leave the washer lights to the si's and dx's....and PLEASE dont look for altezza type tailights either...cause damn your destroying your baby

People who tell others they "suck" because they did a mod you disagree with suck a whole lot more! ******** suck a whole lot more than people with bad taste.

"you obviously have alot of friends with riced out Hondas" Yeah thats obvious?

I love the "your insulting the RX7 community" card that people pull in a "thats rice" thread, as if owning a RX7 is some kind od union that we have to uphold other mambers standards. Sideskirts are there only to look "cool" too, but I doubt many would turn away a free set of BN or GP skirts, or rear bumper.

ok mister Fitness Stain who the hell are you, ohhh i have 20 post and i think i have the right to flame someone, you guys all seem to forget the person payed for the car so they can do what they want to the car, remember its THIER car(not yours) so Fitness Stain if you car about the look of your car why is it still stock, no areo parts, hmmm, how about this i will drag you in to the street and run you over with my car......sound like a plan, yes the stock lines on a t2 are nice but a nice front end to open it up for a fmic is not rice or is it, i care about the looks of my car thats why i bought a rx7 for the show/go factor the car can have so much and and still look nice doing it. ooh Fitness Stain i can promise my car which only has flared fenders on it will smoke your car any day... what im getting at here is leave the guy alone its his car let him do what he wants.

It's kinda funny after I posted a pic they all shut up about it.

Thanks t2 and boost, you put it better then I could.

My car looks stock (with stock lines) other then the paint. The Nozzles came on the car when I bought it from a body shop owner. The engine was completely stock when I got it other then the exhaust. I've put all the wrench time into restoring the power/driveability to this car and then some. The airfilter was missing, the fuel filter had probably never been changed, the belts were squealing. The tires where gashed and mistreated The rotary engine was totally bogged down from not being properly maintained. Now it pulls hard and is a blast to drive. I'm not done yet, I still have to replace the suspension, clutch and some broken interior peices.
The craziest part is, this car has 143,000 miles on it and the ORIGIONAL owner, also the person I bought the car from, Mentioned that it had never had a rebuild. I've never had the car compression tested, but it runs well, doesn't hesitate when downshifting, and never stalls.

AS an addendum to all of this, I've decided to just cut the lines and leave them off and not run any wires through the firewall.
Thanks 88 SE for the compliment.

i couldn't have said it any better myself. it's HIS car not OUR/YOUR car. he's not "disgracing" us with windshield lights. Maybe....just maybe, he likes the looks of it. if he does, that's good enough for me. more power to ya f1bluerx7. fitness stain, your a disgrace to all rx7 owners. those who bling bling their cars or not!

Run the wires through where the steering wheel goes through the firewall. Has a rubber boot around it so you don't have to worry about water or rust.

Oh, if you really feel like doing it, heres what I did:

I just drilled a new hole in the firewall on the passenger side. It comes through just behind the dash. I went to home depot and got a grommet to fit the hole, then ran the wires through.

This way I have a nice clean, easy to get to hole for future wiring.

Besides, LED's arent a disgrace. Only giant aluminum spoilers are.

the washer nozzles on my car need to be replaced because the rubber is starting to disintegrate on one of them. so i'm gonna get the lighted ones cuz:
they're cheap
u can get them anywhere
theyre functional
they don't look bad unlighted

jes don't pretend you're a cop or something with them.
besides you don't necessarily have to turn them on.
