running like crap
86 gxl I drove it last night for a few hours then parked at a friends house and it was running fine all night. I get ready to head home like 2 hours later and it wont start it just turns and wont fire. So i think I've flooded it so we push it off and it starts fine but I have almost zero power and it runs like crap. when I got home my last cat was glowing orange so today I removed it and it still will only start if I push it off and runs horrible. HELP guys.

Compression check. If that works out, then check for spark on the leading plugs. If you get good spark, then start suspecting a fuel problem like an injector that's stuck open (happens...).
It would be glowing orange because of all the fuel thats going straight out the combustion chamber into the exhaust. Do a compression test, u will probably find low compressoin on one of the rotors.

top front plug gives me 55 on the gauge havent done the rear yet and on my secondary injector on the left is leaking all around it when I get done trying to crank. Oh I know for a fact the motor was re built at 60k miles ago
The apex seals are located in the rotor housing. The only way to fix these is a rebuild which requires taking the engine apart. Check out www.rotaryresurrection.com for some good prices on rebuilds.
oh and when I get it running by pushing it down a hill it will red line it just takes it a while to get there and it sputs on its way there but it gets there alot faster in neutral.. anyways thanks for all the help
Did you use a regular compression tester for the test? On regular piston compression checkers you have to hold the check valve open or it will only read the highest reading. Since a rotor has 3 faces you should get three readings for each rotor (example: 97-95-93 or something like that).
Since one of the readings you got for the first rotor was 40 I would say you blew at least one seal (2 faces have low compression). I think per the FSM it the compression numbers should be at least 85+
