Rpm Stuttering and car dying

Ok first sorry if this isn't the correct place to post this, I'm new haha so I'm still trying to learn. This is a relatively new car for me its a 91 na automatic I've only owned it for about 6 months or so and have been daily driving it since and i've only had one problem before this which was a starter going out and now this: I was driving and my check engine light popped on as i was pulling into a gas station then turns off, so i decided id get gas then turn it back on and see if i could diagnose the problem. I turn it back on and there's no check engine so i started driving again and there goes the check engine again and my RPMS stuttered and the light went off again and this happened a few more times as i tried to find a place to park. The light came back on and my car died and was only cranking, i got it back on pulled into a parking spot and turned it off for a minute to try and figure out what it is. I turn it on and it idles but the rpms will stutter when i press on the gas and it seems if i have it on for too long it'll stutter and die. My apologies if this is a bit confusing, any possible solutions? i have no clue im just kind've guessing and providing what info i know.

Have you tried pulling the check engine light codes? I forget if the ecu would’ve stored them even with the light off.
