rough running after reassembly

Ok, so I had to replace a coolant hose. I did, and while replacing the upper manifold and fuel rails, I must have smashed the plastic part of one of the secondary injectors. So I replaced it, and finished reassembly. When I start the car, it runs VERY rough, sometimes with backfiring. Also, I can here some sort of unnatural whining noise which becomes louder and louder as I increase the gas.

Any thoughts? I was thinking that maybe part of the plastic from the broken injector fell down the lower intake manifold.... but I don't know if the symptoms line up with that theory. I'm kindof at a loss here... I've checked all vacuum hoses and conecters... EVERYTHING was reassembled properly.

So the symptoms are: very rough running, backfiring, smoke consistently pouring out of the tailpipes, and a whining noise that increases with the rpms.

Does this sounds like a blown seal of som kind in the motor?

Exactly what coolant line are you talking about and why did you have to remove the injectors to replace it? Which engine are you working on? And if you knew that you crushed the spacer for the injectors why would you leave it like that and patch up the engine that way??

The coolant line has nothing to do with my question, really... that's just what I was doing when I broke the injector and had to replace it.

I have since put new injectors into my 88 n/a gtu. It backfires, and there is a loud whining noise coming from the engine when I try to start it. It almost sounds like maybe the starter won't stop turning or something....maybe?

The thing I'm worried about is that I don't know if this whining noise is indicative of a blown seal in the motor.
