i have a 4 wheel disc 86 fc and it has been sitting for a long time. alsmot 5 years. the car has been moved but not ran. it now runs and the rotors are really rusty. it looks to be surface but i'm not sure. they are still on the car. how can i clean them up. or am i better off buying new ones. the pads are still really good on them though.

I would take them off and get them turned on a brake lathe if they still have good width to them.

yeah but he said they were the rotors in his engine not his brakes. the rotors look to be about 1/2 inch thick. is this to thin? i don know about brakes that much.

if it is just a thin layer of surface rust, just driving the car a few miles with some light braking would burn it off.

your rotors are probably warped, they would need to be resurfaced to get rid of the runout.
