Rotor Housing Reconditioning
Can a 13B rotor housing be fixed/reconditioned? I have two housings that have small pits at the bottom of the inside where it contacts the rotor. A friend told me that the pits were too deep to bore out. But they could be welded then bored out. I found some liquid aluminum that says it withstands; Compressive Strength: 9820 psi / Temp. Range: 250.0 °F [Max]. Any thoughts on repairing these housing pits by cleaning any impurities in the pits with Muriatic acid, then filling with liquid aluminum and sanding the repairs with 220 grit wet sandpaper? What is the chance the repair will come out and then of course ruin the engine? Has anyone tried to make this kind of repair on pitted housings before? Could these housing be used as is without any repair?

dont combustion temperatures get much hotter than 250 F?
if it holds then it'd definitely help. worse case scenario is it flakes off and gouges away at the walls.
also keep in mind the inner housing surface is essentially chrome.

I was skeptical if 250 degrees was going to be enough, so I guess not. I’ve had so many problems getting a replacement I thought I would toying with the idea of reconditioning. I already bought one that ended up having a small crack in it. The guy I got it from is trying to get me another one. Also, one guy says these small pits will not hurt anything! He wants them so he can put them in a rebuild. I’m no expert on housing condition, but I disagree with him. Poll: Could housings with small pits still be used without a problem?

Thanks for responding. I didn’t know there was a difference in 13B housings and I see no markings that say s4 or s5 on the ones I’ve got. I have one good housing and two that are pictured with the small pits. I’ve already bought one replacement housing that after cleaning it I uncovered a small crack coming out of the lead sparkplug hole. I bought it from a guy that got it from a guy and they are 100 miles from me in Alabama, so it's hard to just drop by. The guy I got it from said that the other guy (who I don’t know) has more and would trade me the one I bought with a crack with another good one. But I have not heard from him yet. I will be calling him next week to find out where it stands. If this all falls through I will need to get with you for one of yours.
