Rim size question?

Okay I'm buying some rims for my car soon and I am having a problem figuring out the rim size. Here is what I'm getting, but first I like to mention that I'm getting the Corksport fender flares which is like 33mm wider for each side.

Ok, the rim size I'm getting is 17x8 s in the front and 17x9 in the rear. Here are my offset choices. This is where I'm having trouble.

17x8 | 17x9
+ 27 | + 15
+ 35 | + 35
+ 43 | + 43

So i have no clue of which I should get?

If you go 17x8 front and 17x9 rear, in 35mm offset all around, they should fit nicely all the way around under the stock fenders. If you are really set on using the CS fenders, you will want a lower offset up front.

Just an FYI-According to calculations, the 8" with a 35mm offset will actually move the wheel 8 mm closer to the strut (Based on the stock 16 x 7-40mm). You would need a 27mm offset to keep the same distance as the stock clearance.
http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html
Keep in mind the stock wheels with 225 x 50's will just barely clear the struts. (Certain brands will actually rub)
My thoughts

I thought about 17x9 all the way around but how would that affect my steering?

I don't want it to be a pain to turn

I still have my power steering but i was planning on removing it.

Ok this is what I'm thinking now

17x8 +27 front with a 215/45R17

17x9 +35 rear with a 245/40R17

This would be about 26mm wider up front with the same strut clearence and 30mm wider rear witha 20mm less clearence to the strut

Would this work?

You don't have to keep the stock clearance because stock wheels still have lots of room. +35 both front and back will work perfectly. People don't have problems at that offset and it fits nicely.

so 17x8 F, 17x9 R and +35 all the way around will work fine, even with 225 F tires and 255 Rear?

Question For RX7Revin

Your car looks GREAT!! I've been looking for a picture of what I want & I found it. If you don't mind sharing it, what size are the tires and what rims are those? Thanks in advance!!!

My tire size is 255/40 in the rear and 225/45 up front. And the wheels are Work Wheels from Japan. They take about 6 weeks to custom order and cost a good amount of money. But they look great and no one else has them.

I'm with RETed...those are an excellent choice for size and offset if you are going to use the fender flares.255/40-17 all around. The other nice thing about them is you can rotate the rims unlike staggered sizes..I'd like to know the impact on steering with a manual rack and If that would start eating up wheel bearings? Anybody have this set-up know? ...cheers JET

Hey no one is paying attention because of your avatar!

Talk about sticking out SO far!

Now back to the question...

Ted's right match them all up, I think that it make for more predictable handling too.

I just went from 17x7.5 38 (I believe it was) to 17x7 40 and love them.. Except the stupid wheel cap doesn't fit on the fronts now. Oh well who needs them.. heh
