The Right Stuff instead of O-rings??? Emergency Rebuild

Hey everyone. I'm in one hell of a pickle.

Please read the whole post before replying.

I lost compression in my rear rotor, only get one strong pulse from the spark plug hole when I crank it over as opposed to the constant rhythmic pulses that the front rotor produces.

anyway, I need to do an emergency partial getitthefuckrunning rebuild within two weeks or I am going to have to junk the whole car and fly back home to California.
I have no O-rings (water jacket seals) to use with my engine, however I do have a couple tubes of The Right Stuff by Permatex.

Oil, coolant, ATF resistant.
Operates in environments to 450 degress F, 500 degrees F intermittent.

Please, if you are just going to talk **** and rant about "you cant do that go buy o rings",
save it. I don't have money but I do have parts.
If you can tell me honestly that rebuilding my engine with this absolutely will not get me home to California from Missouri, then by all means tell me so.

Sorry if I come across like an *******, I'm just really frazzled that my baby has died on me and this may be the end of my time with her.
Thanks in advance.

Also, I plan on doing a complete proper rebuild as soon as soon as I get where I need to be. Cutting a couple corners temporarily for the sake of keeping the car and getting it home is not beyond me at this point.

why can't you buy an O ring set?

imo if you really needed to, the outers can be reused, they just get trimmed to length, and you need a big glob of silicon/the right stuff, at the joint, which should be at the top, where it won't leak into the pan.

for the inners, its been my experience that they don't come out in any condition where you could reuse em, and just silicon seems like it won't work. Peejay used the racer method which is some kind of wire, covered in silicon/the right stuff, it will work for a while

I'm sure someone have spare left over parts that you could
use. You won't know what you'll need until you break down the motor . You'll at least need apex seal or seals .

Let me see what I can find in my storage . I can probably
get you one used usable apex seal set ( 1 rotor) . Just pay the shipping .
Someone out there should have a good used o ring you could maybe use but o rings usually split apart . You never know.
As long as the motor hasn't been over heated , you should be ok.

Maybe someone out there has a spare o ring .
I wouldn't use just sealant because as you shift
the housings , it can create air pockets.
If you can pull apart the the housings carefully you
may be able to save the o rings . Then just use rtv ( hylomar is better) to seal it.

I have a tube of Hylomar already.
I just found the culprit: one of my rear rotor apex seals is cracked right in half. sigh.

you are very confident that you think that you will quickly "slap together" an engine for your first time and drive across country? In my experience things done in a rush never turn out well but good luck (I'm predicting a "I'm stuck at the side of the road thread in the future....).

If you know what you're doing and can follow directions
that **** doesn't happen . He being able to disassemble
the motor quickly and find the problem says he's done it
before or knows what he's doing . Some people can't even
pull out the flywheel and is stuck for days .
Not everyone is the same .

My first rebuild I did it over the weekend and start up
Monday morning . Followed the FSM to the "T".

I have the FSM and a whole community of rotary people (not on this site necessarily) behind me. I've been wrenching on my own cars (both purchased for less than $1000 each) since I started driving.

Admittedly this is my first rotary build. However, I am confident. Also, you can't succeed if you don't try.

This is right up my alley. I bought an rx7 4 states away for $600 and drove it the 530~ miles home non stop with only 2 problems (windshield wiper not working, and fuel leak from the fuel pump housing.

I was going to offer you a reusable used set of coolant seals for free, but it seems like you've got that covered so I guess you're good now.

I love the rx7 community, In less than 24 hours of a mayday call he has every part for a rebuild on the way damn near for free.

How can you afford the fluids and miscellaneous stuff needed to do a rebuild? That's like $100

You can always reuse fluids that have been dumped from the engine. Just make sure the pans and areas are clean.. Plus he said he has people that are helping him out, and water can always just be used for the mean time for coolant considering it's not winter yet.
