How is that crazy? In racing you are not even allowed to run any antifreeze at all....straight water (with water wetter or purple ice optional)

+1 water is fine, although if you let it sit too long, stuff starts rusting

Purple Ice and I think water wetter have enough inhibitors that you can basically leave it in there for a whole season anyway. In MN we have to go back to 50/50 (even with heated storage) just to be safe. But i'd still flush it and fill it with new at least once a year.

Exactly. No one in their right mind would flush fluids after every drive.
When you have dissimilar metals , corrosion occurs.

Re-use oil?? Damn thing is like $25. and coolant is $9.
If you can't afford that, you shouldn't be driving.

So update on the rebuild: housings and plates look awesome! Not cherry though, there is a slight bit of browning around the leading plug and directly across from it on the housing. However, the housing is not scratched or gouged at all!

You lack understanding of water treatment...

Even if you put straight water into a car, that has run 50/50 previously there is enough of a film left over from the inhibited glycol that it would take a long time for any substantial corrosion to occur.

But baring that, there are even cheaper alternatives to purple ice and water wetter that are available at any autoparts store designed to lube the water pump and provide corrosion protection for anyone choosing to run straight water.

Yes 50/50 is the standard way to provide protection from freezing and corrosion, but not the only one. Anyone can run straight water in a pinch and be just fine for many days even without any additives.

Nobody needs to call a tow truck just because they cant get their hands on some glycol.

You'd better take the whole thing apart and see if the front iron has a cracked/broken retaining wall before you go buying/asking for parts. Also a broken apex seal usually means a damaged rotor and rotor housing, so you should inspect those parts before deciding on what to do. Just a seal set is often not enough to get one of these running again.

Edit: didn't see the second reply before posting.

Hehe yeah nothing is cracked or otherwise unusable besides the apex seal and my water jacket seals.
So I'm still trying to get my hands on at least one apex seal and spring set for it, also water jacket seals.
I habe lots of side seals and their springs, even some corner seal springs that are like washers almost compared the lame looking wire pieces that were there.
I'm also huessing I will need the little rubber pieces that were in the middle of some of the corner seals. That's right, only some of them. *facepalm*

Edit: fifth page! Never thought I would get this much attention.

Thanks everyone. *hug*

Latest event/scan is usually on top with USPS and UPS. Not sure about fedex. Are you still needing any parts?

Alright! Got the seals a couple days ago and have been busy as hell since. Been alternating cleaning parts and the garage (both my engine and trans had oil leaks... holy **** what a mess to clean up all that caked on crap!) And going to school 40 hours a week. And its summer in Missouri so *sweat*. My instructors keep asking me if I struck oil on my folks' property haha.
At this point I'm just waiting on a couple little things from a buddy back home and after I get the workspace sufficiently cleaned, it will be time for assembly.
Luckily I have a four day weekend for labor day so guess what I'll be doing!

Big thanks to VANHALEN for sending me a half set of three piece apex seals.

rotary people are like cannibis people. we're not going to survive this anti-rotary/anti-pot world, unless we ban together and help each other in times of desperation and strife... so that one day people maybe will get the idea that rotarys and weed, ain't all those bad things people say they are.
