RHD conversion: How much and how hard?

I love RHD cars.

If I get an '88 GXL, how hard would it be to do a RHD conversion? I'd really love to have one, so I could take JDM beyond some new emblems.

How hard. Well I don't really kno that becuase everyone has a different skill level.

You would need the steering rack off of a J-spec car and to move all the **** over and get a J-spec dash too.

To add my oppinion that would be plain dumb but hey its your cash so if you want to go for it.

well, like Santiago said it would depend on how much "skill" you personally have. also getting parts from japan might be an issue.. other than that maybe 3k$? not sure though,

I think it would be nice but an imported rhd would be uh nicer IT could be done and youd need a front clip from japan that included the dash and hopefully it will be in some decent shape.

After spending a chunk of money on a front clip, you then need to strip everything out of the engine bay and most of the interior. You need to cut out the firewall from both cars and weld the RHD firewall into your car so it's as strong and safe as before (not a job for an amateur), and then repaint it. You need to rewire half of the car, and reinstall brakes, clutch, steering, dash, etc, etc. Figure having the car off the road for many months...

RHD is not "JDM". It's half of the planet! Apart from minor details like mirrors and badges, American and Japanese FC's are externally virtually identical. So most people won't even notice, and anyone serious about performance cars probably won't care. And you'll still have a relatively slow NA that performs no better than before. Think of the performance mods you could do with all that money and time.

Want RHD? Import a RHD car from somewhere.

Better yet, move to somewhere that has only RHD cars. That would probably be the route with least expense.

I'm not sure about FCs but my FB has everything there for the RHD conversion.

If you don't mind a line down your dash, you could saw your dashboard down the center and reattach it from underneith with brackets.

I think dave from fc3s.org had the parts for the conversion for sale. They converted a couple of TII's to RHD and had a leftover front clip I believe. Not sure though. ask him about it.
