Rewired fuel pump, now it doesn’t work, wiring correct?
Wow I’m posting a lot today, so I went and required the fuel pump according to this diagram.
my issue is, when I turn the key to the on position, the fuel pump does not prime, or turn on. When I turn the key to the start position, the fuel pump then turns on, but off again after the key is shut off.
idk if it is normal for 1987’s to not prime, never had this car running.

Assuming this is a relatively “stock” car with stock ECU, the fuel pump does not prime in ignition position like a modern car. As you identified, the pump will run during cranking, and when started a switch in the AFM will latch the fuel pump relay.
I have traced through the FSM schematic and detailed in past threads, if I can find an example I will link here for your information.
edit: one of the threads I’ve explained the operation before. You can see the fuel pump relay has two coils which are engaged by key to START or from the switch in the AFM.
