why must you use aluminum? there are many other things you can do to increase rigidity without using metal. Fiberglass is VERY strong, provided it's not flat.

A trick in making fiberglass car-stereo boxes is to lay some rope down, and lay fiberglass over it. It makes the product extremely rigid, and is more likely than not much lighter than aluminum.

aight....decided not to be soo lazy anymore and switchd back to my sn.......tired of giving astrochild all of my post counts......the rope idea sounds good......BUT.....i like aluminum.....and its very light..........aluminum would be less expensive but the hood is pretty damn inexpensive as it is.....and rope....i dont know it just sounds cheap...i think id get flamed for trying to sell someone a hood made out of fiberglass and rope......for a speaker box thats another issue and a really good idea...i never though of that.....we accidentally got resin onto a tarp.....and it dried strong as hell....we were joking about making our hoods from tarp......loool....the reverse cowl tarp hood...race ready....loool... anyhow im going to put that scoop in.....so if anyone wants one before so then speak or forever hold your peace....i want one on their for mine so thats whats happening....you try to please everyone you end up biting your own head off.....so im making it my way......id like to have pics of it up tomorow

Hey Dltreezan, did you think about using Carbon Fiber instead of aluminum, I remember seeing this in a Kit Car Magazine. And are you making these hoods in OR or NC?

ill still be doing the hoods......and i really want to do the light kit and i dont think it would be hard.....but it will be time consuming getting the shapes perfect.....unless i bought an eastbear kit and copied it but im not into making replicas even if it was modded......i might pursue that if i had the money to buy one but i think there is much bigger need for a sick kit at a good price so i think that should be priority......

We ship a lot of hoods. It will be between 100 and 150 for truck freight. I assume you got boxes for all of them as well. I'm interested.

Thanks, Rishie
