k so i just threw some S5s tails on my fc and noticed my reverse lights werent lighting up, i know it has nothing to do with the S5s but im wondering what the possible problem could be? i know it could be burnt out bulbs and i havent bothered to check yet but just in case it isnt the bulbs what could the possible problems be?

is it just the reverse lights? check the fuses first then check the bulbs thats probably 90% of your problem if either or is bad
aside from that the harness could be disconnected either at the lights or there is a connection on the tranny
if its not any of that then someone else will need to chime in

Why don't you check the bulbs are report back? You could also check to see if you have voltage at the chassis harness conector.

You could have the harnesses in the wrong spot. Take a couple out and make a few switches and you might find the problem. I had the same problem, at first I had one reverse light on and one not. Switched around the one tail lights harness and problem solved. By harness i'm reffering to the little plastic inserts into the tails by the way.

hold on so your saying if the light is in the wrong spot it wont work? cause my brake lights all work and my right turn signal light does (my left one doesnt for some reason) and my nuetrals dont

There shouldn't be a difference in the harness layout. They're exactly the same with S4 tails and S5s. My S5 lights plugged right into my vert, and lit up perfectly. Actually, my S4s had reverse lights that didn't work, but now with the S5s they do. I can only assume that the old bulbs were bad, even though the filaments were fine. Swap the bulbs before you go jumping to any major conclusions.

There is a reverse switch that is physically on the transmission. Mine went out along time ago. I changed out that part and both reverse lights came back. There shouldn't be a need to modify your harness by installing another relay.

Another problem with the reverse lights not working is the wiring from the transmission themselves might not be in the best condition. My friends Rx7 had no reverse light so we put it up on the lift and saw that the wires going to the 5th/reverse switch had no insulation. His Exhaust melted the wire insulation away. We rewired them, covered them into the heatshield and they work now.

At the top of this section there are threads (called sticky threads) that are stuck to the top of this section.

For example the Frequently Asked Questions on the 2nd Generation RX-7 - FAQ for FC sticky thread.

These threads have things like what did your car come with, or the Frequently Asked Questions on the 2nd Generation RX-7 - FAQ for FC which has many of the commonly asked questions; already answered.

For example:

when you come into this section (the 2nd gen RX-7 technical section) you will see this at the top of the section:

Note how some of the threads say: Sticky

This means they are stuck to the top of the section so that people can find and see them very easy.

The switch breaks the 12V power source. First, check the 10A Meter fuse under the dash. Next, check the bullet connectors on harness that plug into the switch. Actually, you might need to cut the old bullet connectors off along with an inch or so of wire and crimp/solder new connectors. This happened to me once before. Couldn't get the backup lights to work after replacing the switch. Turned out that the wires going into the bullet connectors were corroded not allowing current flow to the lights.
