Reverse/5th Switch

According to Mazda, this part was discontinued 6 months ago.

Anyone know where to get a new one?

I'm tired of swapping in used ones just to find out they're busted.

Any way to crack them open and fix them?

Keep one around and unmolested for when I come up next. I'll compare it to the one on the truck and the ones in my FBs... Hell, I'll even see if the Geo or Honda take the same switches...

I suggest you check the Corolla, the Vert, the Miata, and The Matrix...

{Russian Accent}
Toyota parts, Mazda Parts, all made by Nippon Denso!
{/Russian Accent}

Worse comes to worst, jimmy in a little switch that gets hit by the shifter when it's in reverse and slip it under the boot and trim.

Most commonly they screw in and out like an oil pressure sensor.

Cleaning it doesnt help. I tried that already

It's a huge bolt, thats what it is, and it screws right in :p

It is so insanely sensitive too, it drives me crazy.

I ordered one. It just got here.

This one is probably for the N/A or something.

It is VERY MUCH the wrong part. It's not the TII one.

So the search is still on.

From NAPA:

First, the switch claiming to be for the NA:
http://www.napaonline.com/masterpage...p+Light+Switch

Next, the one with no info on it, but LOOKS like the NA switch anyway:
http://www.napaonline.com/masterpage...p+Light+Switch

This sucks, I cant find this TII switch ANYWEHRE.

From Advanced Auto Parts:

Looks like the N/A switch:
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...pe=401&ptset=A

Uh, I have no clue what this is:
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...pe=401&ptset=A

No picture, so I'm wary:
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...pe=401&ptset=A

And another one that looks the same as the N/A switch.
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...pe=401&ptset=A

Am I crazy?
The TII switch is HUGE compared to these dudes, with a button a good two inches or so long?

Olympus (used to be Olympic) Auto Parts has it the cheepest at $20.71
Part number 201-1660
Says it fits Mazda from 86-90, so I'm skeptical.

I'm going to drive over there and compare switches today.

Just to show everyone I'm NOT insane, here is the comparison between the two parts:

Note, the Beck/Arnley switch has the wrong threads, one of the connectors is male when it should be female (or vice versa, I can never remember) and it is TINY.

The stock TII switch is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

Crazy Rays?

Try ordering one for a B2600 truck or a MPV minivan or a 929...

Wht's the FD use for a reverse switch?

It's all the same tranny and all those cars ran up till 93 and probably beyond.

Maybe a Ford product has something similar.

I've been trying that. It's all just variations of the wrong switch.

The closest thing I saw was off an '88 929:
http://www.napaonline.com/masterpage...p+Light+Switch

And that is obviously wrong.

And every junkyard part I've pulled is DEAD.

Allright, Ray got back to me:

He said he exhausted all his possabilities and couldnt find a single person who sold it. He could only find the N/A version.

So, I'm screwed?
