Rev Issue

So ive been reading around and I see people with similar problems, and some very knowlegable responses, but non have actaully answered my question. I own an 89 FC33, and has been plauged with revving issues. At exactly 6k it just hits a varitable wall and bounces like its at its limit. Iv'e heard things from fuel injectors to malfunctioning ACV. any tips or advice on getting her breating again would be just great

The check engine light going off? Does it feel like its bogging? Maybe check the afm and your acv. Since its s5 could be in limp mode...just try pulling the codes if there is any check engine light on...

nope, no engine light. runs strong up till 6k as well. Gonna overhaul my fuel system and see if that may be an issue. But I did get a chance to check over some other stuff. Like the VDI actuators, I noticed, dont budge. after taking them off to see if they were siezed, everything looked notmal. plugged up a low pressure gauge and it reads zero pressure above 3000rpm, that and I also noticed that the double throttle diaphram is dark as well.... engine also backfires in lower rpms, dispite the engine not being stressed. Air compressor seems to be working because the intake portion sucks air and the releif under the passenger side front bumber pushes air, so its doing something, but who knows if its doing it correctly. Ive kinda been stumped as what to do, I picked this car up for 1200, and is in fantastic shape, only catch was this malfunctioning engine. Good news is that it only smokes when sitting for weeks in the middle of winter, so the seals seem to be alright, but as the engine is running strong for 130k it might be due for a little overhaul.

oh and the catalytic converter isnt plugged, but maybe needs to be replaced with a newer unit. smells kinda like fried fiberglass after a couple sprints

its been a while, but since it's new TII transplant I got the chance to crack it open everything was fine, the problem lied with the gas pedal. adjusted poorly by a previous owner. No wonder I couldn't find anything wrong rotorside....
