I got my fc running this morning

the rev buzzer in my 86 n/a is going off at ~5k, is that normal? I have an automatic, and i dont see why there even is a rev buzzer in it....

I've heard that the RPM at which it goes off can be adjusted, it should certainly be higher than 5k, the stock tachs are known to sometimes be inaccurate which can be caused by poor grounds or other things, and for the record the buzzer is there for good reasons (to warn you that if you rev higher damage to the motor is likely to occur).

If the car is running correctly, (I/E no mis-firing of the trailing coils- check timing and spark plug and spark plug cable condition first), then you can adjust the RPM buzzer settings.

But are you sure you are not low on coolant and not low on oil???

You might think so, but if something ever goes wrong with the transmission such that it won't shift up you could easily over rev. That buzzer could save your butt in that case or something similar. I assume the auto RX-7's also had 1st and 2nd like most auto transmissions I've seen do.

The oil buzzer, water buzzer, and rev buzzer all sound the same to me. If you had a bad oil level sensor or water sensor they could make the same sound, however its more likely to be the RPM buzzer settings. If your idiot lights work and you dont see anything light up when the buzzer sounds its the RPM settings.

That's because they all use the same buzzer. Different signals to turn it on, but all use the same noise maker.

Thought so, but didnt want to say it considering I wasnt 100 % sure. Last thing I want to do is give mis-information.
