Resistor for s4 T2 1600cc imp. ?
Resistor for s4 T2 1600cc imp. ?
I recently just purchase low impedence 1600cc injectors for my s4 T2. Will i need to run 10ohms resistor if any? I was told that i need too, but now my car now won't let me accelerate pass 4k rpm.
i have 3 inch down pipe with no cats. RB FCD, 1600cc sec, 720cc prim, fmic, 60-1 turbo, s5 uim and lim, block off plates, ss 60mm wastegate, jacob electronics ign., 6psi of boost. etc
are you SERIOUS??? you have a stock ecu?? lol with a 60-1 goodness...... you probably cant go past 4K becuase the 1600 cc injectors are dumping WAYYYYYY TO MUCH fuel,
did you add the resistor and then put them in??
does your car have a reisstor box near the front right corner of the engine bay??
try taking out the other injectors the 720 and measuring there resistance with an ohm meter if the other two read low 2-3 and they dont have any resistors wired in than you can use the 1600 fine.

Yes i have stock ecu.
I will check the resistance on the injectors. What are the OEM injector's resistance and i should use that as a reference to compare with the other injectors? What resistors can i use if I need one. I have on 10ohms on right now.
And plus, I do not have a fuel injector resistor box.
Thanks for the fast response guys... keep them coming.

are you positive you dont have the resistor box??
unfortunatly int he middle of 87 they switch from low to high imp injectors so its kinda hard to tell what you have, if your positive ud ont have the resistor box, then you do need the 10 ohm resistors.
the resistors you need to use need to be rather large 10 ohm ones, your not using dinky 1/4 watt ones from radio shack are you??
something like 10 watt 10 ohm resistors is what is needed.(someoen correct me if im wrong!)
what are you using to control fuel?? those injectors are huge if they are working your getting WAY WAYYYYY to much fuel you cant evne turn them down enough using a SAFC or anything like that,

Ummmmmm You REALLY need to ditch those 1600's.....
REALLY... whith 720's and 1600's... the stock ECU is dumping 3X as much fuel as the car needs as soon as the secondaries kick in...... even with an SAFC, you are not going to be able to pull enough fuel out to get it to run when the secondaries come on....
Sorry man, but, it just aint hapennin... you need smaller secondaries and an SAFC if you are going to run the stock ECU
you have TWO other options...
1) put the stock injectors back in ALL AROUND and get an addtional injector controller and have a third set of injectors installed on the UIM
2) Get an aftermarket ECU

Hey man, All said and done, you need to make sure that all four of your injectors have resistors...
Kompresssorlogic, he doesn't have the Resistor Pack. Only pre 87.5 cars came with them. sao1's car is an 88....

Now, let me drop a little interesting story...
I've heard of guys running a 60-1 and the stock ECU with 1600's in the secondaries having very little problem getting this combination to run.
Interestingly enough, it seems like the increase in airflow is just enough for the 1600's in the secondaries to allow the motor to run okay.
What color were your original injectors?
If they were red / pink, then you need the resistors.
If you have purple / tan, then you don't need the resistors.
Good luck with the car.
