replacing water seals what to buy?

Hi guys, I'm about to do my first 13b NA rebuild, and I'm just trying to get the engine working good again. The problem was the exaust was getting into the cooling system causing it to pusht he water out the reserve tank. ANYWAYS, so I know that I need to buy new water seals, but I was wondering if there is anything else that I NEED or SHOULD buy. Like do I need to buy any more other seals? I am going to get the instructional DVD but im not sure it will tell me the only things I need to buy just to do a water seal rebuild.

Thanks.

Do you have the motor apart yet? Usually when this is happening, one of your housings is shot. A little metal lip at the bottom (where I always find it) has eroded away where it is very thin between the combustion chamber and the water jackets.

That being said, you can cheap it out with just the inner and outer water seal gaskets, or go full rebuild. It depends on how much you want to spend. I say as long as you have the motor cracked, do it right. Look at Atkins Rotary site. You can do various levels of rebuilds, I did in between rebuild once with just spring replacement (I am not sure which level) and not seals.

Well I want to spend as little as I can. I only want the engine to be running. Maybe drive it for the school year (very little) and then sell it.

The story is I got screwed buying this dang car, for 3000$, he disconnected the coolant buzzer, and idiot light so I never knew that it was eating water when I test drove it. Less then a week after I bought the car the tranny blew, so I got a used tranny from a junk yard, and installed a stage 2 ceramic clutch. That was hella fun for the 3 more days that the car was ok. I had to keep adding more and more water, where I couldn't even go 10 mins without having to drop a gallon in the radiator.

I would like to just get it running for right now for 1, I miss shifting hard and having a little fun w/ the LSD :0) and 2, I cant even sell the car for 600$ right now and I'm NOT going to take a 2600$ hit because of the *** head.

sorry for the long story I just need to rant sometimes.

I was thinking about getting this kit::

But when I was researching water seals there were some like special tephlone ones or something that were round instead of square and were reusable? But if I remember correctly that post was back in 2002. What are the best water seals?

Thanks.

Before anything, you need to confirm if your side housing is okay.
Cause, if the housing is no good, it needs to be replaced.
This will throw a big monkey wrench into your whole project...

if I see ANY wrenches, doesnt even have to be a monkey wrench, even one of those little plastic kids toys, I give up on the rx7. Its not worth it. I dont have a machine gun like jessy james, but I do have 2 boxes of about 300 M80s.
