Go to the Mazdatrix site for this. They list what is needed.

They are pretty helpful on the phone, too, when you catch them at the right time. Nice catalog.

Catch them at the right time????? I never had too. They always called me back and tried catching me at the right time. Customer service was great with both orders that I placed with them even though I screwed up one order.

I just meant when you had a 'technical' question and they had time to talk. Buy many things, keep them happy.

Yea.. I got my stuff from them. They are fast shippers as well.

p.s., trust the guy when he says your gonna need a new inner boot. I tore mine to hell getting it off.

New bushings make a world of difference though. Be prepared for a really tight shifter for the first week. It gets normal after a while.

hmm..I went over to the Mazda dealership today, I printed off the parts they list on Mazdatrix you need and showed it to him. They had the upper bushing set but not the lower, at first he said they didn't exist, then I showed him the Mazdatrix list and he found em. Didn't order any boots though. You think I should get all of them or just the middle one like you said? Also, Mazdatrix says the the plastic piece around shifter breaks, any trouble for you?

I went in there just curious to what the prices for what I need were compared to Mazdatrix..there the exact same or very close, the upper bushing kit was 7.50 and the lower was like 7.20 I think. I just decided to have him order it b/c I was already there and the prices were the same. I didn't order the boots though, and I've been told I'm almost guarenteed to rip them up pretty good when I'm taking it apart. Any suggestions, or should I just order the boots?

From the dealer or from Mazdatrix? I'd order through Mazdatrix (even though I went w/dealer), just b/c I hear that their customer service is great and they gets things shipped pretty quick and accurately.

Just the upper and lower bushing from Mazdatrix are $16.49 together, if you get the boots (which I hear is strongly reccommended) its gonna be $62.02. HTH.

FYI, you can just use two of the "upper" bushings. They're practically the same thing, and it has worked just fine for me.

If none of your boots are ripped, you don't need to order any, except of course for the inner boot which you might rip to shred when you try to get it off so you can slide a new top bushing on the shift lever. If you use lots of lithium grease or vaseline, you might get it off without ripping it and save yourself $20.

My boots were in horrible shape (everyone of them was either ripped, missing or disintagrating), so I ordered all of them when I did this a few months ago.

Thanks for the info, I think I'm gonna just order the boot kit from Mazdatrix just in case, I'm sure I'll rip at lease the inner boot when I do it, so might as well replace all of em.

Have another question though, I know your supposed to fill up the shifter hole w/90 weight diff oil before you put it back together, how did you go about getting the old oil out? Or do you need to? Thanks.

Good question. I was talking to the owner of Maztech (Jeff Gladish) here in Tampa, FL about this. He recommends just greasing the bushings and pumping any fluid out of there. The reason I asked him is because tranny fluid was being "pumped" out of the inner boot and making a big mess in my car.

The only thing in there that really needs lubrication is the bushings.

Yeah, I am gonna just go to the dealer, thats where I ordered my bushings from, its just annoying though, b/c they didnt have the parts in stock, so I have to wait.

JerryLH3: Thanks for the tip!

If my outer n middle boots are ripped, do I need to replace them? There function is just to keep crap from getting down below right? Do you think I should just order the inner one or all of them, don't want to keep having to head back to dealership. Although don't want to buy things that I dont necessarily need. Thanks again.
