Replacing Oil Cooler On 89 Gtu Need To Know How To Replace Foam On Top And Bottom
My oil cooler has been leaking for a while and I am replacing it with a used oil cooloer from a 90 FC and CorkSport SS oil lines. The foam strips that seal the oil cooler on the top and bottom edges, so that air cannot flow around it, is missing.
Does anyone know where to get replacement strips or what to use in its place. Is this stuff available in rolls and what do I ask for or do a Google search on to find a supplier? Anyone tried to use the garage door insulation strips they sale at Home Depot or Lowes? Any help would be appreciated.

I bought some from Home Depot. Don't know how long it will last though. I did use clear silicon adhesive (Permatex) to affix it as I didnt think the adhesive tape they provided had a chance in hell.
I know what you mean, I tried some garage door weatherstip I had left over on the radiator and it fell off in less than a month. Whatever they used to install the OEM foam is tough, it withstands high heat, oil, coolant, and water splashed up from driving. That's what I'm looking for, that adhesive and some foam or sealer material that won't deteriorate due to the above conditions. How long have you had your permatex on?
two weeks but I'm in the middle of a Tii swap so the foam hasn't been tested under fire.
The interesting thing is I've looked on Jegs and Summit racing and neither lists any type of foam or other airflow management rubber.
