Replacing O2 sensor wire, Shielded?
Replacing O2 sensor wire, Shielded?
OK so my O2 sensor wire is broken somewhere in the loom. I figure I'll just splice in and route a new wire for a (hopefully) quick fix. The wiring diagrams show this wire as a "shielded" wire so what should i use to replace the shielding? Also where to ground the shielding?

Maybe 10+ years ago, I discovered that my O2 sensor wire had broken off right at the main harness and was nowhere to be found. I just spliced in a length of small gauge single conductor wire and connected to the O2 sensor wire. I have had no issues with my O2 sensor since.
Shielded sensor wires are to be grounded at the ECU. If the wiring going toward the ECU is still there, you should be okay to bridge the shielding over with solder or a crimp but dont solder the sensor wire, be sure to crimp it.
if you've got no shielded wire and cant find it in a store. Cut apart some junk electronics. An old microphone will have very good shielded cable.
