replacing fuel filter

Is there anyway to drain the fuel from the fuel hoses before replacing the filter? Taking a fuse out or something. Is there away to run the fuel out of the engine? dont wanna get fuel all over the place.

If the engine has just been run, you should depressurise the sytem by unplugging the fuel pump plug or circuit opening relay while the engine is running. If it's been sitting for a while the pressure will have mostly dissipated. Be sure to remove the fuel filler cap as well.

Even then you'll still have some fuel leaking out of the lines when removing the fuel filter. Just get a pan and let it drip. wipe up or let it evaporate.

The fuel pump plug is clipped to the left rear strut tower under the plastic trim. The circuit opening relay is under the dash by the steering column. It has a yellow base.

I notice in the Haynes manual that theres 2 fuel filters, 1 in the tank and 1 by the engine. The 1 in the tank is low pressure and the 1 in front is high pressure. Anywho, is the high pressure 1 used for higher rpm's, say like 4000 grand and up?

One is on the pump intake (low pressure) and one is on the pump discharge (high pressure).
