well i am interested in this 91 rx-7 n/a and the owner says good condition except the engine runs but when you lift your foot off the gas it shuts down.... what could possibly be wrong with it??? thanks alot

 

Could be a vacuum leak, could be a mis-adjusted TPS, could be a faulty BAC valve, could be a dozen things. Could also be the guy is feeding you BS to hide a blown or failing engine.

Best thing you could do is to have a knowledgable rotary mechanic do a proper engine compression test. [A boinger mechanic will most likely not know how to do a proper compression test on a rotary engine.] Pay him $70 and possibly save yourself a couple of thousand dollars that a rebuild would cost. If compression is good, you can deal with the idle problem. If compression is not up to par, thank the car owner for his time and say bye bye.
