replacing belts question

I'm replacing all my belts on my T2, how do I know what is tight enough/too tight? I know the FSM indicates a specific tension, but I don't have a way to measure that. (or do I?) Help please.

Thanks

I beleive it is on inch of movement in the middle of the longest stretch. Thats how I check.

1/2" to 1" of movement.

too loose is better than too tight.

If the belt is too tight, it WILL fail, and possibly take the bearings of whatever it was pulling on with it.
if it slips, you can always tighten it more later.
