Replaced FPR and now car won't start. I'm clearly an idiot

OK, I tried to avoid this post as long as I could. But here it is. So I was messing around with bolting an aeromotive onto the secondary rail since the car came with a Walbro already installed. Emissions are deleted and I run an RTEK 2.1. I swapped to the aeromotive, set static for 37 psi and she won't start. Turns over, but no kick. I pulled the plugs and they are not wet.

I tried to revert my changes and see what was wrong and the old FPR doesn't line up. It's clocked 45 degrees too much towards the throttle body and interferes with the UIM. I suspect that the orang-washer on the FPR had a second shim on it that is never pictured and possibly lost?

What simple issue is it that I'm missing? Injectors are all plugged in.

Yep, I have no problem building fuel pressure. I orig set static to 43.5, but just dialed it back down to 37

I double checked and made sure I had put the EGI fuse back in.

Are the fuel feed/return lines swapped?

Also having a tough time visualizing your description. Pics would help.

On turn over does it sound like a flood or starve problem. Is there a fuel smell from the exhaust. If not check your line routing. Checks for kinks and be sure you didn't somehow swap your supply and return lines. More info/ pictures will help if you aren't successful after this.

on fresh attempt it tries to start for a brief second then just cranks. No fuel smell. All I did was unplug my return and plug it in to the aeromotive. I didn't think to check back before raising her back on the lift and parking the FD under. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

Basically I took an aeromotive for and bolted it to the rail where the OEM FPR is. Plugged one end, attached the return and set static pressure to 37 psi.

My wiring harness looks sketchy as all get out. I have a replacement on the way to see if it's actually a wiring issue that just happened to coincide with this.

Pretty much this. Also, one method of verifying fuel flow is to have the return line run to a bucket and run the fuel pump for a short time. If this happens start checking wiring/connectors/fuses.

Double check that you reconnected the ECU grounds. There is one in the intake area you may have taken off and the other is originally on a driver side trans bolt.

You know what, I checked the firewall side, not the Intake side! I'll be looking at that this weekend. Thanks!

Swing and a miss. The firewall goes to the transmission and is properly hooked up. So is the ECU ground under the UIM.

So 100% if you unhook the fuel line from the fpr fuel comes out when cranked?

I meant with line still attached to fpr, fpr removed from rail.

yessir, I've got a gauge on the FPR and pressure is set to 37 psi. I'm positive it's something completely obvious and I'm overlooking it. But, my harness is crap and very brittle and I have a better used one coming next week. I wonder if I have a broken connection somewhere I cannot see.

Fuel out of rails? Lol one step at a time. If youre getting fuel into the rails, but not out the injectors, well, there ya go.

Visually make sure you have fuel flow...
If you have fuel flow in the rail but nothing going into the motor(fuel smell at exhaust) then fuel isn't entering the motor. Check all of your injector terminals for voltage. If there isn't voltage then it's electrical. I.e. Ground, harness, connector, pcm ... If all four injectors have voltage then it's back to the fuel side. Ie. Pump relay, fpr, lines swapped, kinked hose...

Also, if you for any reason turned theory the key in the ignition while things weren't plugged up you may have run the pump dry.if you did this you need to verify that the pump is working correctly. Not familiar with burning out rx7 fuel pumps but I've other import fuel pumps burn out when ran dry. Cover your bases and check everything before tearing out your wiring harness. Also, take pictures of you do. Lots of them.

injector clips are easy to break and the root cause of many issues, even if the connectors look ok it doesn't mean they are either, had that one just yesterday.

For closure, problem was found. It was actually the ECU. Looks like the injector drivers burned up on it or something. I had without knowing put High Resistance S5 primaries in with Low Resistance S4 secondaries on my S4 car. Wondering if that did it in? either way the Rtek 2.0 ECU was the culprit.

Don't do that again.
