Renesis Rotors

would the 10:1 rotors fit into the 13b or would the new oil ring cause problems?

They'd probably fit just fine, but I've never done it. Not really seen a good close up of the engine either. Generally, all 13B internals are pretty interchangable.

If it's a 13B, then it has the same sized rotors of all other 13Bs.

Probably lighter weight rotors, not smaller.

The question of using Renesis components, even the engine itself, has been raised by some people (including myself).

The short answer is: in theory, it could work.

The long answer is: until engines and parts become available, along with documentation, we don't know for sure.

The only people who know are god, the Mazda engineers, and a few aftermarket companies.

I remember someone saying KD Rotary had a rx8 given to them to play with. I dont know if there is any truth to it, but maybe give them a shout and see if they have any information about it.

From the sport compact car article it looks as though they could be used....you just use the same amount of seals as your s4/5 motor not what the renesis uses.

The Renesis rotors should physically fit. the chamber dimensions are identical to those of the 13B. The seals are not interchangeable. Not the side seals at least. They are now a wedge shape and there is an extra one on the side now. Also since the rotors are lighter you're going to have to figure out how to get the counterweights too.

who cares? why do people keep talking about it? it's not even out yet. and you can buy a j-spec 13bt for less then ONE ROTOR, let alone a whole engine. and make alot more power....

I may be wrong but I saw an RX8 parked on some spring break 2003 MTV show. The one with LaLa and that dude from American Pie 2. I gotta take a closer look. I guess this wouldn't even be in the states. Prolly somewhere in Mexico. Is it possible or did I see something else?

There are a few out there already. I doubt they are privately owned although.

There was an rx8 on hollywood blvd in front of graumans chinese theater this past friday (where they do all the premiers of movies for LA). it was a promo thing...sit in the car and take your picture and they send it to you via email.

the car was a fully working thinger...when my friend and i showed up they had just gotten there. they told us to checkit out...obviously the people there didn't know a single thing about the car as i found out after talking to them and all they could say is "its reeaaallly fast." 3 of them told me that. my buddy mentioned that i had an rx7 and then one of the guys started to babble about how he owned a 929 and how it was a great car and he loved it. i rolled my eyes thinking "yep thats pertinent to this situation." they couldn't tell us anything except what was written in ads and pamphlets. none of them had probably ever driven it except to that spot from some LA mazda dealership or maybe from irvine where the mazda r&d stuff is.

so...the car was parked on the side of the street. my buddy jumped in the drivers seat and was like "holy **** the keys are in this thing!" and like uh...the car started and stuff and one of the promo guys freaked out. we coulda stole an rx8, wouldn't that have been fun . the inside is decently spacious (i'm not a small guy) with none of that claustrophobic stuff like with the 3rd gens. it was surprisingly quiet when running and had a different sound from even stock exhaust rotary engines. although it didn't hit any high rpms with us in it, im sure a new exhaust system would fix the quiet exhaust note easily . so like...now i want one more than i wanted one before....heheh

Short of building a full race NA, complete with 2k Braap-Braap idle, getting 250HP is impressive.
As I said in another thread, in a year or two, a J-spec renesis would make a sweet replacement for a worn out NA.
