Removing the Power Steering Pump.

Has anyone done the conversion of the Power Steering rack to manual steering by removing the PS pump and replacing it with a reservoir to feed the chambers with oil as you turn the steering. I'm looking into removing the pump system cause its leaking and at the same time remove a few pounds from the bay.

Also, has anyone replaced the seals on the power steering, around the shaft?
I'm curious how much I can get them for?

I've read that furb removed the seals and i thought even the internal plates to reduce as much drag as possible to make steering lighter.

If you want power steering, you've gotta have a pump- be it belt or electrically driven, it has to be there.
A passive reservoir does nothing.

I now that, I'm hoping the resistance will go down just a bit with having the reservoir supplying oil instead of having air in the chambers.

Using that approach, resistence will go up.
If you want a depowered rack, follow the tutorial and do it right or don't do anything.
